Prepare the apple
10 minCut the apple into small cubes.
Inspired by Canada's maple syrup tradition, this porridge is made by softening oats and apple in a pressure cooker in just minutes, then finishing with syrup and cinnamon. Portable in a thermos, it's a practical choice for picnic breakfasts.
Cut the apple into small cubes.
Put the oats, chopped apple and milk in the pressure cooker and close the lid; once it starts hissing, lower the heat and cook for 10 minutes.
Turn off the heat and let the cooker rest unopened for 10 minutes.
Stir the maple syrup and cinnamon into the porridge and serve once slightly cooled.
Make sure all the steam has released before opening the pressure cooker, or hot porridge can splatter as the lid comes off. Allergens: contains milk and dairy.
Using a plant-based milk instead gives a slightly thinner consistency; you can increase the maple syrup a little to compensate.
