Petek Pastanesi (Arsuz)

Arsuz sits on Hatay's Mediterranean shore, southwest of İskenderun, and this Petek Pastanesi shop is at number 32 on Çakır Sokak there; the company files it as 'Petek Arsuz – Uluçınar' in its own store list. The brand itself was born inland. Its founder learned pastry in Moscow, ran a patisserie in Tehran for a stretch, bought a bakery in İskenderun in 1939, and returned to his real trade on 19 May 1942 with four tables. A fourth generation of the family runs the business now, with shops in İzmir, Trabzon and Osmaniye as well as Hatay — and, by its own account, three of its six Hatay branches lost in the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. What is sold here follows the house catalogue: nut pastes, sugar-free desserts, handmade chocolates and madlen boxes, künefe and kadayıf, baklava, Turkish delight, dried fruit and nuts, and packaged gift boxes. A regional shelf carries Hatay's own things — ready-to-bake Antakya kömbe dough, kaytaz böreği in minced-beef and pepper-and-curd versions, içli köfte, the aged cheese sürk, pomegranate molasses and cold-pressed olive oil — alongside Turkish coffee packed under the house name.
