A seventy-year-old Tire institution founded by Mustafa Karasu and his brothers in 1952, known for classic Tire-style skewered köfte.
Hacı Baba Tire Şiş Köftecisi, founded by Mustafa Karasu and his brothers, is one of the oldest şiş köfte houses in İzmir's Tire district, with a history going back to 1952. Located on Çirapazarı Sokak in the Yeni neighborhood, inside the Erne İşhanı building, the restaurant centers on Tire's signature dish: finely ground meat skewered and grilled as şiş köfte. The köfte is served with piyaz (bean salad), fresh salad, and pickles in a range of portion sizes, alongside yoghurt and the region's well-known black mulberry (karadut) products. The menu is rounded out with desserts, and the restaurant also takes takeaway orders. Open from 08:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to 21:00 on weekends, the business is regarded as one of the enduring names in Tire's şiş köfte tradition after more than seventy years. Everything in the source material is built around grilled köfte and its side dishes, with no mention anywhere of alcohol or pork.
