Meşhur Özçelik Aspava opened in 1987 as a döner wrap counter in Ankara's Esat quarter and still works from one address, on Belligün Caddesi in Küçükesat. The business describes itself as the founder of the aspava format.
That word needs explaining, because it belongs to Ankara and almost nowhere else. An aspava is a döner and kebab hall built around a particular rule of hospitality: whatever you order, a spread of free mezes and salad arrives with it, and tea plus a dessert closes the meal at no extra cost. Özçelik keeps the practice intact — four kinds of meze and salad to the table, then tea and semolina halva served with ice cream after the plates are cleared.
The kitchen's signature is sauced döner in a wrap, and it is the dish the house leads with. Beyond it the grill covers beyti, Adana wrap, İskender, lamb şiş, aubergine kebab, Urfa kebab, kebab under yoghurt, kebab with tomato, chicken wings and chicken baked in a clay tile. The dough side runs to lahmacun and pide, the latter topped with cheese, cubed lamb or a mix. No alcohol appears anywhere on the menu and no pork product is used; the site publishes no drinks category at all.
Alongside table service the house takes phone orders for delivery, advertised prominently, with card payment handled at the door by mobile terminal. Küçükesat is a dense residential and office quarter of the Çankaya district.
