Berlin Döner

Birecik was built on the east (left) bank of the Euphrates, on the road running between Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep, and has spread to both banks in recent decades. The town is known for the castle above the river, for the bridge that carries traffic across it, and for the breeding station protecting the northern bald ibis, a bird that has all but vanished elsewhere. Berlin Döner works from 10 Temmuz Caddesi, one of the busier lines through the Meydan quarter of the town centre. The kitchen describes what it does as Turkish cooking, prepared fresh: kebabs and grilled meat alongside quicker plates, with coffee, tea and freshly squeezed juice to go with them. The doors open at seven in the morning and stay open until eight in the evening, every day of the week, which puts early travellers and evening diners under the same roof. There is free WiFi, a separate smoking area and free parking for guests. Tables can be reserved by email, and orders can be taken away or delivered. Cash, Mastercard, VISA and debit cards are accepted.
